About 1986 $1 Silver Eagles:1986 is the first year of issue of the popular Silver Eagle series. The design on the obverse was taken from the Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman, used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar series from 1916 to 1947. 1986 was the only year that were exclusively issued in round tubes with orange caps, that are very tightly packed. Despite the tight packing, PCGS and NGC both have graded less than 3% of the total population as MS-70 examples.
