Capped Head Gold Half Eagles
About Capped Head Gold Half Eagles: Although minted in relatively high quantities, historical circumstances at the time led to the removal of gold, particularly Half Eagles, from circulation. The result: the existing Capped Head Half Eagle (1813-1834) population is extremely limited, making examples from this series some of the most difficult to obtain as a collector. Full of rarities, the 1822 Capped Head Half Eagle is the pinnacle, considered one of the most valuable of all regular-issue US coins.
