Which are the rare Lincoln Cent dates?
Ian Russell on Sat, Dec 10, 2022 5:03:01 AM
The rarest Lincoln cent date is the 1909-S VDB. The "VDB" on the coin is the initials of the designer, Victor David Brenner. This coin is considered rare because only 484,000 were minted, and many were subsequently melted down. Other rare Lincoln cent dates include the 1914-D, 1931-S, and 1955 Doubled Die Obverse.
The most valuable Lincoln Cent ever sold by GreatCollections is the 1958 Doubled Die Obverse, graded PCGS MS-65 with CAC approval. Only three examples are known, with this being the finest.
GreatCollections has also handled multiple 1943 Lincoln Cents struck in Copper/Bronze, one of the most famous coin errors in the world.
