GreatCollections has been built to serve the numismatic community and offer an extensive selection of certified coins and paper money for auction and direct sale, without the risks of dealing with unknown people or companies online. Our experts have personally inspected all items being offered and we only offer coins and paper money graded/certified by the leading grading services: PCGS, NGC, PMG and ANACS.

Unlike many other venues online, GreatCollections takes security and confidentiality very seriously. Below you can read about some of the measures and advantages we offer all clients, whether buying or selling through GreatCollections.

Physical Possession

We have possession of every coin or banknote we are offering in auction or by direct sale. We inspect each item to ensure the coin and holder is genuine, and that the holder has not been tampered with.

Consistent Professional Photography

Our in-house professional photographers image each item consistently and without image enhancement. Our proprietary imaging system is respected industry-wide, giving maximum confidence to bidders.

Official Auctioneer of the American Numismatic Association (ANA)

GreatCollections was appointed to be the exclusive Official Auctioneer of the American Numismatic Association for 2022 through 2024. The ANA is the largest nonprofit educational organization dedicated to educating and encouraging people to study and collect coins.

Confidential Transactions

All transactions are confidential between buyer and seller; your personal information as a buyer or seller is only disclosed to GreatCollections.

Insurance through Berkley

GreatCollections holds an extensive insurance policy with Berkley Asset Protection, protecting consignors and bidders. This provides peace of mind in the unlikely event of something going missing in the postal system or while coins are in GreatCollections' possession. Berkley is an A+ rated insurance company that specializes in insuring the numismatic industry. A copy of our certificate of insurance is available upon request.

GreatCollections abides by the PNG Code of Ethics

GreatCollections' owner, Ian Russell, is a member of the prestigious Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG Member 785) and adheres to the strict PNG Code of Ethics.

Bidding Transparency

We have no hidden reserves, ever. You can view in real time when bidders are bidding against you (although usernames are masked to protect identities). In addition, our software restricts consignors from bidding on their own lots.
