CAC Approved Coins
Overview
CAC was founded by John Albanese in 2007, as a third-party to grading services. CAC experts examine coins previously certified by either the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of America (NGC). CAC then affixes a distinctive green sticker to the holder of each coin which, in its judgment, fully merits the grade that was assigned. Each sticker incorporates a tamper-resistant hologram.
In addition to attracting additional bidders for CAC approved coins, CAC actively makes a market in CAC coins, further backing up their product. Press releases issued by CAC state that CAC has bought over $100 million in CAC coins between 2007 and 2010.
In October 2023, CAC started fully grading coins themselves, and issuing these coins in CAC holders. These are referred-to as "CACG" coins, as opposed to previously graded PCGS and NGC coins that are "CAC Approved".
